Professional & Practical First Aid & CPR Training facilitated by
Registered Nurses & Paramedics
We’re on a mission to teach as many Australians as possible basic First Aid and CPR training as possible, for one reason… It saves lives!
As Registered Nurses and a Paramedic working on the road and in critical care for some of Australia’s busiest emergency departments over the past 20 + years, we’ve been trained to assess and take action in a split second.
What we do, saves lives.
What you also do before someone arrives at one of our emergency departments also saves lives, if you know what to do.
This is why First Aid and CPR Training is so critical.
We have seen too many situations where lives may have been saved, if members of our community had not only undertaken formal First Aid and CPR training but also had the confidence to assess, act and respond to the situation in a split second.
Hi, we’re Sarah, Mel & Marty, the Directors of Embrace First Aid.
Most of the time, people know what to do, they just don’t have the confidence to do it.
During our First Aid and CPR training sessions we draw on our experience and include practical activities and scenarios that we’ve treated while working in Emergency Departments.
The sessions are fun, interactive and most of all we deliver our sessions so that they are memorable and easy for participants to recall when they need to draw on these skills.
Meet the team
Sarah Jones
Sarah is a Senior Registered Nurse (RN) with over 15 years of experience in critical care and currently working in a busy Emergency Department.
After years of treating patients and interacting with their loved ones who came into the Emergency Department, Sarah realised that not everyone has first aid and CPR training or the confidence to act in a split second when faced with an emergency situation. Of real concern were the number of people she encountered who didn’t know CPR or who had first aid and CPR training but feared administering it in an emergency situation.
Along with her extensive training and on job experience, Sarah knew she could make a difference by transferring her skills to an education setting. Together with Mel, Embrace First Aid commenced in 2022.
Now, more than ever, Sarah is passionate about facilitating First Aid and CPR training sessions and educating people so they can act in a split second with the skills and confidence to help save a life.
Sarah holds a Bachelor or Nursing and Postgraduate in Clinical Nursing and Teaching along with Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Advanced Life Support and is registered with Nursing and Midwifery Association.
Sarah has a passion for horses and is a trained FEI Equestrian Steward. She loves nothing more than combining her passions of providing First Aid at National Equestrian competitions. Sarah also has a love for the water and ocean and enjoys traveling overseas and within Australia with her family and group of life-long friends.
Melissa Davis
Melissa is a Registered Nurse (RN) and is currently working as a Nurse Operations Manager in a busy Sydney hospital. Melissa has an extensive background of over 21 years working in Emergency Departments as well as a number of related Nursing Managerial positions.
After years of nursing, Melissa realised that a lot of people lacked even the most basics of First Aid and CPR training. So, with her passion for facilitating training sessions and on the job experience, Melissa joined Sarah and together then launched Embrace First Aid.
Melissa’s mission is to instill confidence in her community through her First Aid and CPR training sessions so that they can provide effective and safe First Aid in any given emergency situation.
Melissa holds a Bachelor or Nursing and Postgraduate in Leadership and Management along with Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Advanced Life Support and is registered with Nursing and Midwifery Association.
Outside of her work, Melissa enjoys the cafe life around the Hawkesbury. You’ll usually spot her with her Cavoodle, Harry and Pomeranian, Gingin while enjoying a coffee. Melissa also enjoys keeping active by participating in larger, organised walks and going to yoga and bootcamp.
Marty Duncan
Marty is a highly trained and experienced Paramedic with NSW Ambulance. He has over 23 years of service as a First Responder, and is trained to act in a split second to treat the most life-threatening of injuries.
Throughout his career, Marty has worked in both remote country and city settings allowing him to develop a unique range of skills and treatment scenarios for just about any injury.
Marty hopes that by drawing on his life experiences and unique set of triage and emergency skills that all course participants leave feeling confident to administer first aid and CPR under any circumstance, whether it be how to simply bandage a cut or give CPR.
On a more personal note, fun and fitness are paramount to Marty. He has personally trained many people in the Hawkesbury through his bootcamp classes, the first of its kind to be offered in the area.
Marty has played and coached Oztag professionally and represented Australia in the Oztag World Cup. For over 30 years he has coached and personally mentored children, teens and young adults and loves nothing more than seeing them have fun and succeed.
